Well, I took a trip to Manzanillo, Mexico (on the Pacific coast, between Puerto Vallarta and Acapulco) and pretty much fell in love with the place. So, I bought a condo with the plan to move there full-time in a year or so.

Here's a satellite picture of Manzanillo.

On the way to Manzanillo from the airport there are coconut plantations and banana plantations and mango trees as far as you can see. I pulled off to take a quick pic of some coconut trees with the hills in the background.

While I was on the terrace taking pics of the view and the neighborhood, there were a couple of guys trimming the palm trees. You can hardly see him in this picture, but he is clear at the top, 50 feet off the ground.

In these pics you can see he just sits on one of the fronds and hacks off the coconuts and the other fronds with a machete. Then when the only frond left is the one he's sitting on he pulls a rope out of his pocket and wraps it around the trunk and hacks off the last frond. These next pics were taken from the terrace as he hacks on the tree next to my condo.

No girly cherry-pickers and fancy safety equipment for these guys.

Once a week the Gringo community has "Thirsty Thursday". Here's a couple of pics from a recent outing.

Ah, yes. When we say "on the beach", we mean "ON the beach".

But on to the city of Manzanillo.
